Thank you for visiting this site. It is designed to act as a record of my musical output and as such contains a collection of songs and instrumentals charting my adventures in the fields of home studio recording and music production.
All original compositions using voice, acoustic and electric guitar (sometimes using altered tunings), bouzouki, low and high whistle and MIDI instrumentation. Working on larger musical projects has lead to me employing a degree of classical orchestration in some of my more recent work using virtual instruments.
On this site you will find my own songs and instrumentals, collaborative work with other Soundcloud members and links to my two major music projects that have their own websites.
Site content is divided up into discrete sections to ease navigation. You can just scroll through the site but the top menu should make it much easier to find the section you are interested in. The little house symbol at the end of each section will return you to the top menu. Off-site external links and Soundcloud tracks will open in a new window. This will allow you to return to this site by simply closing the new window.
Menu items exist for my own Songs and Instrumentals. Additionally, Soundcloud collaborations are divided into Song collaborations and Instrumental collaborations
There is a further section called Projects with a general overview of my larger music projects and links to the project websites.
In addition to my individual songs, instrumentals and collaborative works, I have two larger on-going music projects.
This is a long-term Progressive Rock project. Here is some background information
On the 25th February 2016, an idea came into my head for a song involving the concept of a lighthouse in space. What would it be like to be in the back of beyond, all alone in deep space?
Lyrics followed and then musical ideas involving orchestration to denote the expanse of space and incorporating strings and brass mixed together with synthesizers and electric guitar.
Just over 1.5 years later (560 days), this 16.5 minute monster is finally ready. This track has acted for me as an apprenticeship in recording, mixing and simple mastering. The original rough demo was completed by December 2016 but final construction only truly began in January 2017, with everything being re-recorded.
The track itself isn't particularity lyric heavy, with instrumental sections very much in keeping with a larger Prog Rock piece. Since it is quite long at 16.5 minutes I suggest listeners settle down and hopefully lose themselves in Deep Space for a while. :-)
Following the release of 'The Lighthouse Keeper' track, further ideas are being developed for four more tracks in the series.

The Lighthouse Keeper - Website LinkThe Pilgrims Way is the old waymarked safe crossing point to the tidal island of Lindisfarne, also known as Holy Island, off the NE coast of the UK. The eponymous opening track of this instrumental music project acts as a musical gateway to explore the history and natural world of this magical place.
